Structural Engineer

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and detailing of our residential buildings for Earth and space. Your challenge will be to develop a panelized building system that can be readily transported and assembled into structures that meet or exceed international building requirements.

You will work in a cross-disciplinary environment with a team of MEP engineers, manufacturing engineers, and designers to develop advanced homes that Astreia residents depend on. You are able to demonstrate a strong first principles approach to design, and the ability to work outside the (rectangular) box. You thrive when given extreme ownership and enjoy working in a super fast-paced environment to bring products to reality. If you love polygons and have ever dreamt of creating real-world origami, this is the role for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform structural analysis, design, and drawings of steel and/or composite panelized building structures
• Prepare code-compliant designs and manage the testing and qualifications to meet the building codes/standards necessary to attain permits in the US and other countries
• Perform or assist in Engineer of Record duties by providing certification letters and plans for permit approval

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering field
• 3+ years experience in applied structural engineering
• Professional Engineering license (Civil/Structural Engineering) advantageous but not required

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Strong experience relevant to the design of panelized building systems, either in buildings or other advanced structural applications (aerospace, naval)
• Proficiency with structural design software e.g. AutoCAD, Revit
• Proficiency with structural analysis software e..g SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, RISA-3D, ETABS
• Working knowledge of relevant structural building codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
• Familiarity building with metal and composite materials
• Proven ability to design to a high standard with acute attention to detail
• Exceptional skill in critical thinking and on the spot, practical problem solving
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively and objectively
• Excellent personal time management with a proven ability to set priorities and achieve goals
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in an extremely dynamic environment with rapidly updating requirements

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Lead

As a Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities and closing deals to support development of our single family home built for rent communities. Your challenge will be to spearhead expansion of our communities, working with governments and other partners to secure the best sites for Astreia developments. You will help advance the global adoption of sustainable housing that will be critical for ensuring a successful future for us and the planet.

You have a keen analytical mind and strong experience in real estate or a related field. You will be effective in building relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, city planners, land owners, and real estate agents, and have the skill to secure advantageous land acquisitions and development. You enjoy the opportunity to pursue an aggressive real estate acquisition strategy and will thrive with the challenge of rapidly scaling Astreia communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build and foster positive relationships with governments and other key partners for sustainability and housing solutions
• Contribute to market analysis, proforma financial analysis, due diligence, site acquisition, and financing
• Work closely with business and legal to manage seamless land acquisition, entitlement, permitting and planning activities, and government review
• Contribute to building a long-term global real estate strategy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Planning, Real Estate or equivalent preferable but not necessary
• 3+ years experience in a business development role, preferably in real estate

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Exceptional verbal & written communication skills, with a demonstrable ability to communicate accurately and persuasively
• Proven skill in negotiating advantageous deals
• Experience in coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders, including large organizations and government entities
• Working knowledge of standard real estate legal agreements
• Ability to objectively analyze and identify housing market trends and opportunities
• Knowledge of GIS and database software
• Exceptional skill in critical thinking and practical problem solving
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively and objectively
• Excellent personal time management with a proven ability to set priorities and achieve goals
• Ability to work efficiently in an extremely dynamic environment with rapidly updating requirements

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required
• Valid driver’s license
