Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of the mechanical systems that turn Astreia homes into high performance machines. Challenges will range from enhancing the efficiency of the mechanical-electrical-plumbing core to developing more intuitive designs for building structural panels and doors.

You will work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary environment with a team of designers, embedded system and software engineers, and manufacturing engineers to develop an advanced home that Astreia customers can depend on. You demonstrate a keen eye for practical design and a strong first principles approach to problem solving. You thrive when given ownership of product creation from design through to deployment and enjoy working in a super fast-paced environment to bring products to reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design and certify mechanical systems that create high performance, user-intuitive homesUtilize design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to create optimized components and structures
• Take responsibility for project plans, including schedule dependencies, deliverables, and target dates
• Manage the complete product development lifecycle from requirements and prototyping to manufacturing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant Engineering discipline
• 2+ years hands-on experience in mechanical design, build, and testing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Strong on the ground experience in mechanism design, material selection, prototyping and testing, and design for manufacturing
• Experience across product lifecycle management, including creating BOMs, manufacturing drawings, and instructions for parts and assemblies
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and FEA or multi-physics software packages (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Ansys, CATIA)
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools (e.g. Vectorworks or Revit) is a plus

MANUFACTURING LEAD

As a Manufacturing Lead, you will be responsible for establishing the manufacturing systems that enable us to efficiently fabricate and assemble our vertically-integrated homes. Production of our homes begins in the facility and proceeds through to home completion on the build sites. We strive to build and scale high performance homes faster than any other company and your challenge would be to implement the machinery and processes to achieve this goal.

You will spearhead manufacturing operations from establishing requirements and procuring materials and machinery, through to assembly and delivery. You have robust practical experience in process engineering and the skill to take new products through to high volume production. You will demonstrate a strong first principles approach to problem solving and the ability to systematically engineer production processes. Above all, you are as obsessed with efficiency as we are and will excel in  the pursuit of an increasingly aggressive production pace.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish new and evolving manufacturing lines, including engineering the supply processes, production equipment lines, and facilities
• Achieve aggressive speed and budget targets through planning and execution of lean manufacturing approaches
• Manage project execution and ongoing optimization to ensure that cost effective, robust, and reusable processes and equipment are implemented
• Conduct design for manufacturing reviews with design and engineering teams to ensure early designs have a practical means of production

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or other relevant Engineering discipline
• 3+ years hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment

Supply chain LEAD

As a Supply Chain Lead, you will be responsible for establishing the supply chain that enables us to scale sustainable communities across the globe(s). We require a constantly evolving supply chain to keep advancing the design of our vertically-integrated homes while increasing their affordability. Your challenge will be to manage our unique supplier base, which draws on multiple industries, together with a streamlined logistics program that efficiently delivers supplies to our facilities and build sites.

You have a technical background and can critically analyze and select the best performance suppliers, including identifying newly emerging and unconventional opportunities. You demonstrate a sharp talent for procuring suppliers, negotiating deals, and working effectively with suppliers and logistics providers for success. You excel when given ownership of the end-to-end supply chain activities and facing the challenge of meeting aggressive goals and timelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the end-to-end supply chain; from sourcing to planning to supplier management
• Act as the point of contact for design and manufacturing to effectively procure suitable materials and services
• Source and onboard exceptional suppliers and work alongside them to achieve optimal quality, cost, and delivery
• Coordinate logistics to efficiently transport supplies from the nearest suppliers to local facilities and build locations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
• 3+ years experience in supply chain operations

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in a high-volume supply chain or applicable manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with interpreting engineering designs
• Knowledge of supplier quality processes and systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP)

Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing software across Astreia's operational and user-facing applications. This will include developing the home operating system and user dashboard, as well as contributing to tools that increase the efficiency of home production. You will have strong experience in building reliable software that is able to operate without fail in deployed environments and be intuitive for users. Demonstration of strong user-centric understanding will be exceptionally valued. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop front-end and back-end software for a sleek home operating system and user experience
• Manage the complete software development lifecycle from requirements and prototyping to production and deployment
• Provide ongoing support and optimization of software operating in the homes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or applied mathematics AND 1+ years experience
• OR 3+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in web and app (iOS, Android) development
• Fluency in C, React/Node.js, CSS, and Javascript
• Proficiency with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS

BUILDING AUTOMATION Engineer

As a Building Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the cyber-physical infrastructure that Astreia homes operate on. Your challenges will include designing and developing devices to monitor and ensure the health of indoor conditions, improve home energy and water efficiency, and enable intuitive control of the home for Astreia residents.

You have strong experience in building embedded systems and the ability to oversee the full stack of embedded device development. You demonstrate a strong first principles approach to problem solving and a proven ability to build for reliability and resilience. You will be comfortable taking responsibility for the complete life-cycle of embedded device development and working in a super fast-paced environment to bring products to reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop secure and reliable embedded systems that bring Astreia homes to life
• Manage the complete embedded system development lifecycle from requirements and prototyping to manufacturing and customer deployment
• Take responsibility for project management, including schedule dependencies, deliverables, and target dates
• Provide support and ongoing testing and optimization of installed devices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, applied mathematics
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in systems-level C

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Fluency in C/C++ Proficiency in writing Linux kernel code for real-time systems

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities and closing deals to support development of our single family home built for rent communities. Your challenge will be to spearhead expansion of our communities, working with governments and other partners to secure the best sites for Astreia developments. You will help advance the global adoption of sustainable housing that will be critical for ensuring a successful future for us and the planet.

You have a keen analytical mind and strong experience in real estate or a related field. You will be effective in building relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, city planners, land owners, and real estate agents, and have the skill to secure advantageous land acquisitions and development. You enjoy the opportunity to pursue an aggressive real estate acquisition strategy and will thrive with the challenge of rapidly scaling Astreia communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build and foster positive relationships with governments and other key partners for sustainability and housing solutions
• Contribute to market analysis, proforma financial analysis, due diligence, site acquisition, and financing
• Work closely with business and legal to manage seamless land acquisition, entitlement, permitting and planning activities, and government review
• Contribute to building a long-term global real estate strategy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Planning, Real Estate or equivalent preferable but not necessary
• 3+ years experience in a business development role, preferably in real estate

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Exceptional verbal & written communication skills, with a demonstrable ability to communicate accurately and persuasively
• Proven skill in negotiating advantageous deals
• Experience in coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders, including large organizations and government entities
